The Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA) commenced on 1 March 2000, with most of its provisions being effective from 24 October 2001.  It replaced and broadened the Data Protection Act 1984.  Anyone who processes personal information must comply with the eight principles of the DPA.  The Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOI) relates to public bodies.  This workshop will help you to identify data and what you can do with it.
