Essentials of Management – 2 day programme with optional 3rd day

This programme is intended  for newly appointed managers, or aspiring managers, and  is designed to give delegates an insight into the people and management skills required in leading a team for the first time.  The workshops will be participative and interactive and there will be opportunities throughout for group discussion on issues raised by delegates.

By the end of this 2 day programme delegates will:

  • Understand what is involved in leading the team
  • Appreciate the different team roles
  • Know how to motivate individuals and teams
  • Be capable of setting SMART goals and objectives
  • Be capable of communicating better with people at all levels
  • Recognise the benefits of assertive behaviour
  • Be able to coach team members effectively
  • Understand  the importance of effective delegation
  • Understand  how to run an effective team briefings

This programme is designed as a two day programme (Day 3 is optional).  However, delegates may choose to attend one or all days.

 

The programme has been approved by ILM and as an option Searchlight can provide delegates with an ILM attendance certificate and six months student membership – designed to help candidates get the most from their management career, offering online tutorials and access to a range of specialist support and development materials and services.  There is an additional fee of £48 per delegate for this optional package.

Please note the ILM option needs to be requested before the course and to gain the ILM attendance certificate both days must be attended.

Module 1 (half day) – Negotiation Skills

Every day we negotiate in one way or another. Our negotiation and influencing skills can make the difference between success and failure in both our business transactions and our personal lives.

Module 2 (half day) – Report Writing

A well written report can make a critical difference when seeking funding, making proposals or advancing recommendations. It also reflects well on the professionalism of the individual and the organisation.
