Back to basics for the best possible start

Searchlight’s Insurance Basics Programme is a highly participative three-day programme, designed for those new to the insurance industry or who are taking on a technical role for the first time. It provides a good basic understanding of insurance, how it works, and how it’s put in place.

Searchlight’s Insurance Basics Programme includes exercises and activities that provide a practical element to the learning and make sure it sticks. It also includes a visit to Lloyd’s.

The next Insurance Basics Programme takes place in London on the 4th, 5th and 6th February 2020.

Legal principles of insurance
Insurance products (personal and commercial)

Day 2

Underwriting, risk assessment and pricing
Claims and claims handling
The Insurance Market (insurers, brokers and others)
Reinsurance

Day 3

Lloyd’s and the London Market (including a visit to Lloyd’s)
Industry Bodies eg ABI, CII, BIBA
Overview of Regulation (history, FCA, PRA and other legislation)
End of programme assessment
