Introduction

This one day interactive workshop provides an excellent top up to the Commercial Property Insurance – Intermediate workshop and is suitable for those who have at least 2 years property insurance experience. It explores the aspects which need to be understood by those involved in providing technical or administrative services.

Workshop Objectives

Delegates who successfully complete this workshop will be able to:
• Describe the cover available under a commercial property policy and explain the different options available for unusual circumstances

• explain in detail the main features of a risk that would influence an underwriter in their assessment

• recognise the effect that physical features of a risk can have on rating and acceptability

• explain risk management features of a risk and explain to a customer what steps they can take to reduce or eliminate the possibility of loss

Workshop Content

Using case studies and exercises:
• a look at some of the less common options available for buildings, contents and stock covers

• a study of some of the more common problems facing the property insurance market e.g. flood, terrorism etc and how the market is responding

• the main principles of underwriting and pricing
• the features involved in the assessment of commercial property insurance risks with detailed analysis of the most important factors e.g. arson, construction and fire protection & security systems
• the application and interpretation of some of the more common warranties
